September, 2022

Dear Parents and Students,

The new school year is getting better and better!

The 2022-2023 school year has begun! Although classes are still half-day face-to-face only, our school has planned more learning activities and facilities for the students than ever. Even under the new normal of learning, we hope the campus life will be more stimulating and interesting.

Curriculum Trends

This year, our school will focus to STEAM education*. We are excited to have enrolled in a three-year CoolThink@JC project, so all our students can be equipped to meet the digital future, learn coding, build up computational thinking and get prepared for the future where they can use new skills for social good.

In order to cater for learning and experimental needs of all children, we are introducing all-round learning, where teachers from different panels will arrange to conduct several cross-curricular activities. Students can participate in a number of outings to give their learning context and authenticity. The overall curriculum planning on the specific topics will also help students to integrate knowledge from different subjects. This approach follows our aim to promote our students’ whole-person development.

Positive Education

We would like to distinguish ourselves not as a happy school but a positive one, promoting good values and traits in our students. This year, we are going to launch a new school-wide student reward programme – SuperKids Rewards Scheme (Cow-Cow Rangers Passbook), which should encourage our students to achieve good behaviour by setting certain goals. The scheme will be implemented in an appreciative and commendable way to strengthen students’ active learning, care for oneself or others, willingness to serve and self-discipline.

Moreover, with the theme Be grateful and treasure what we have, stay positive and optimistic, we decided on a number of school-based programmes, such as Birthday Blessings in CampusGratitude Singing StationGratitude@MWSGratitude and Treasure DaySmall Tasks Every Day, etc. The ten priority values and attitudes will be infused into Moral and Civic lessons and various subjects to cultivate students’ positive values and create a positive and harmonious campus culture.

Diversified Activities

We are convinced that a variety of extracurricular activities can help students broaden their horizons, acquire different knowledge and abilities. It is also an important way to carry out moral education and nurture students’ noble sentiments. Therefore, this year, being in line with the new normal of learning, the arrangement of extracurricular activities will be similar to the way it existed before the pandemic. Apart from group activities on Wednesday, we are planning different types of activities on weekday afternoons and at weekends, including academic, STEAM, sports, music, visual arts, etc.

These activities will include: juggling, magic, fancy rope-skipping, environmental protection pioneers, little scientists, 3D printing, jazz dance, Chinese painting and calligraphy, unicycles, track and field, football, squash, swimming, soft volleyball, ukulele, African drums, drama and touch-typing, etc. We would love to expect, that our parents will encourage their children to participate in various activities to promote physical and mental health and the development of multiple intelligences.

As in the previous school year, we continue to carry out a number of improvements on the campus facilities. We aim at providing our students with advanced learning equipment in our beautiful school so that they conduct exploring and learning in a rich learning environment and a harmonious atmosphere. Let our beloved students meet the challenges of this fast changing world through consolidating knowledge and embracing the future.

With Love,
Principal Kwok Man Lai Eve
